What do you get when your new rifle is made by Heckler & Koch and all the mags you have are made by Thermold (originally for the Diemaco/colt canada rifle).
You guessed it: A single shot "assault rifle".
First solution: H&K mags... good mags. Just one little problem. They are heavy. Really heavy.
So bring less rounds right? Or go to the gym... yeah.
Well let's just say I usually only run a small number of mags, and two of them are on the rifle, the search started for something lighter.
A little searching; and presto: the P-mag came out. We bought it, liked it, loaded it, shouldered the rifle, and the mag fell out the bottom... Not a happy day.
Yes, there are those that will sand away the little lip on the mag, so that you can actually use it anyway.
I don't like to sand down pieces of plastic, especially those pieces of plastic that will be under strain and hold ammo.
Then Magpul, in their great wisdom, launched the E-mag. Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner!

Light weight, tough as nails, smooth, fits in pouches Easy to (dis-)assemble. What more could a simple man want?
